Registration for this event has now closed. This is due to the capacity for an alternative wet-weather venue being reached. Please keep an eye out here, and on Carn to Cove, and Join The Groundswell social media for updates nearer the time as we may be able to release more tickets.
There is also a performance of Fireside in Helston on Thursday 23rd October.
Gather around the fire and let us remind you of what it was to be afraid of the dark.
Don’t build the fire too high, sing too loud or laugh too heartily because he’s out there and he’s hungry.
The award-winning circus company Nikki & JD in collaboration with Lost Dog create an outdoor show that combines circus, dance, theatre and live music to re-enact the original horror story. The one about the monster, and the monster’s mother, and the dragon and the hero and the severed limbs.
Dark, comic and physically dangerous this is a modern re-telling of that ancient epic, Beowulf.
This performance is brought to you by Join The Groundswell in partnership with Carn to Cove. Please find some information below from our partners:
REGISTRATION
In line with Groundswell’s commitment to activating and animating public space, this event is free to attend and we are not selling ‘tickets’. However, we ask that you still register your attendance in advance.
LOCATION AND WHAT TO BRING
This event is outdoors, on a beach, at sundown, and is staged overlooking the North Atlantic. It is our hope that the setting will add to the enjoyment of Fireside, but please come prepared to ensure you are comfortable. We recommend wearing sturdy footwear, layers and a waterproof jacket. You are welcome to bring a camping chair, but to ensure a good view we actually recommend a blanket/groundsheet or waterproof cushion. In the event that poor weather means that Fireside cannot be performed at Fistral, we will contact you with details of a nearby indoor venue in good time.
ACCESS
The performance site is on an open beach with no immediate hard-standing or path access. Please bear this in mind as you plan your attendance and note the following arrival arrangements for those with and without additional mobility needs. Once you register to attend, we will also include these in your confirmation email/reminder email so the information is handy at the time of the event.
IMPORTANT ARRIVAL ARRANGEMENTS Please make your way to the site at Fistral Beach by starting at Tower Road Car Park (click/tap for google pin location). Whether you are coming to the event by car (and therefore parking in this car park) or whether you are accessing the site by foot from nearby in Newquay, we are urging all audience members without mobility needs to start at this location in their approach to the site. From this starting point, you can then make your way across the golf course path, (click/tap for google map route) before ascending the dunes, as the performance site comes into view.
