Tim Smithies steps down as Director of Carn to Cove

Tim Smithies is stepping down today as Director of Carn to Cove, and C Fylm after 17 years working for Creative Kernow.

A message from Creative Kernow CEO Fiona Wotton:

Under Tim’s leadership, Carn to Cove has grown from 6 villages to encompass with C Fylm more than 100 active communities and 350 volunteers putting on events all over Cornwall.  Carn to Cove won the award for Most Supportive Rural Touring Scheme in the inaugural National Rural Touring Forum Awards ceremony in 2017.  Last year we celebrated Carn to Cove’s 20th anniversary with a special anniversary film commission from Awen Films and the team presented a superb Autumn and Spring programme building back its established promoting base after the challenges of Covid.

Tim would like to thank all the performing artists, all the volunteers and promoters scattered all over Cornwall who love making things happen in their communities, the audiences who support the events and all the funders, partners, and finally his colleagues at Creative Kernow who have made his time at Carn to Cove such a great and joyful experience.  He leaves a strong team with a bright future for Cornwall’s creative and performing arts sector at Creative Kernow and wishes them well.

The Board of Trustees join me in thanking Tim for his years of dedication and passion which have created such a rich infrastructure for the performing arts in Cornwall and excellent knowledge base within Creative Kernow.  We wish Tim all the best in his future projects.

A message from Tim follows below:

Today is my last day at Carn to Cove after 17 years. It’s been fabulous working with all the artists, performers, volunteers, partners, colleagues and rural touring audiences in Cornwall and Devon and beyond. Thank you all for your friendship and work. I will continue with my Metronome Recordings music production business, which I have run for 29 years www.metronome.co.uk.

It’s been a wonderful journey. I think November’s film commissioned for the 20th Carn to Cove anniversary film is a fitting 9 minute note to end on.

I wish Claire and Imogen and all the volunteers the best of good fortune going forward.

– Tim Smithies
