Regents Opera (est. 2011) is a leading fringe Opera Company specialising in the larger works of the 19th & 20th centuries. The now touring company offers emerging and established singers a platform to perform major repertoire not often staged outside the major houses. The most popular opera in their repertoire tells the story of Carmen: a woman ablaze with passion, who is set on a road to tragedy when she meets Don José, a young soldier searching for love.
This special touring production is fully staged with lighting, costumes, four cast members, and accompanied by their talented pianist and Musical Director Ben Woodward. The piece will be performed by renowned mezzo soprano Kassandra Dimopoulou as Carmen, and Howard Hutt as her Don Jose, and is directed by Paul Higgins of Glyndebourne Festival Opera and the Royal Opera House.
