With flying bodies, last minute catches and an energy you have to see to believe, LEVIATHAN pushes the boundaries of what the body can do. Martial Arts, sports, break-dance and even professional wrestling influences combine to create a breathtaking experience for audiences… and it’s coming to an outdoor space near you!
Following a national and international tour, including a recent sold out 9 performance run at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, James Wilton Dance, an associate company at Hall for Cornwall, return to Cornwall with their critically acclaimed work LEVIATHAN for performances in 5 locations across the duchy.
LEVIATHAN, which features 6 dancers and is based on Herman Melville’s seminal novel Moby Dick, will be performed in the following locations and are completely free to audiences:
28 August Newlyn (as a part of Newlyn Fish Festival) 1pm, 3.30pm
29 August St. Austell Town Centre– White River Centre, Cornwall 12pm, 2pm, 4pm
30 August Liskeard Town Centre, Cornwall 12pm, 2pm, 4pm
31 August Launceston Town Centre (Esedhvos Festival of Cornish Culture) 12pm, 2pm, 4pm
1 September Lemon Quay Truro, Cornwall 12pm, 2pm, 4pm
James Wilton Dance are an award winning contemporary dance company lead by Cornish choreographer James Wilton. James’ work has toured to South Korea, China, the USA, Dubai, India, Germany, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Malta, Italy, Spain, France, Sweden and Denmark and has also won awards at the Hannover, Bern and Masdanza Choreography competitions, as well as the Sadler’s Wells Global Dance Contest.
The tour is being supported by FEAST Cornwall and Arts Council England.
