This weekend, we said a huge thank you to Carn to Cove Director Claire Marshall, whose last day was on Friday 29th September.
Claire has been an integral part of Carn to Cove for 17 years, where she has supported hundreds of performance events, run by our brilliant volunteer promoters in every corner of Cornwall in our wonderfully varied village halls.
Under Claire’s guidance, Carn to Cove has been a Dance Ambassador for the Rural Touring Dance Scheme, building a Cornish dance network of promoters and audiences, meaning people all over Cornwall can see extraordinary contemporary dance in their communities. Claire has also taken Carn to Cove international, sharing Cornish creativity with our European partners in SPARSE, and TK Music Lab in partnership with Music Hub in Sibiu.
In recent years, Carn to Cove supported our neighbouring scheme to continue to operate after it announced it would close, and after 4 years, Villages in Action is now back under self-management in Devon. Claire continues to Co-Chair their Board of Trustees, alongside serving on the NRTF Board of Trustees.
At Creative Kernow, Claire was also Co-Director of Creative Communities, working across the community grants funding programme FEAST, and community cinema network C Fylm.
At our farewell party on Friday, we gave some gifts to say thank you, including a map of Cornwall featuring all the Carn to Cove, C Fylm and Village in Action venues, and a scrapbook with messages from colleagues and Carn to Cove promoters.
Thank you Claire for your hard work, enthusiasm, sense of humour, leadership and friendship! We will miss you enormously and wish you all the best in your new adventures as General Manager of Mount Pleasant Eco Park.
