On the 26th of January 1814, Edmund Kean stepped on stage at Drury Lane and changed British Theatre forever.
He was a grieving, drunken, megalomaniac. He was poetry in motion. Prodigal Theatre’s biography tells the story of Kean before he became famous. A childhood spent amongst circus performers and back stage at Drury Lane was followed by ten years of hardship touring the provinces on foot with a family in tow, including many tours through the South West.
