How far would you go to save your family?
Alfie and his dad have a big problem. Alfie’s big brother, Jacob, has disappeared moments before an all-important boxing match. While desperately searching for him, Alfie encounters two shifty-looking men who sound like they’ll do anything to get their dirty hands on the prize-money. Soon, Alfie finds himself trapped in the heart of a scandal.
Can Alfie safely return Jacob to the ring in time…?
Or will he have to take his big brother’s place…?
Inspired by Children’s Author Oliver Sykes’ experiences growing up without a mum and being coached as an amateur boxer by his dad, Alfie’s First Fight is a funny and heart-warming show that packs a punch for children (aged 5+) and their grown-ups. It features boxing action, surprising plot twists, compelling characters and an inspiring boy hero.
If you liked Roald Dahl’s Danny Champion of the World, the books of Jacqueline Wilson or the Rocky Movies, then you’ll love this ‘edge-of-your-seat storytelling’ (Manchester Libraries) by award-winning Children’s Author and former-Amateur Boxer, Oliver Sykes.
Children aged 8-12 years are also invited to a creative writing and performance workshop with Oliver Sykes on Sunday 30th April at 11am. Find out more and book tickets on our event page.
