This year’s Dante Summer Festival opens at Launceston Town Hall with a concert and workshop from the internationally renowned Brodsky Quartet, illustrious cellist Laura van der Heijden (BBC Young Musician of the Year 2012), and the talented young players of Trigg Strings, from local schools.
The evening concert opens with Haydn’s ground-breaking String Quartet in C major, 250 years old but still startling to modern ears.
Talented children’s group Trigg Strings plays a sequence of tunes from around the world and a subversive re-interpretation of Schubert’s famous “Trout” song. Celebrated cellist Laura van der Heijden joins us for Schubert’s String Quintet, a masterpiece which explores all the places that music can possibly reach, from the heights of joy to the depths of despair and back again.
Join us for drinks and snacks after the concert.
Licensed Bar available.
