Written and performed by Gareth Armstrong and, arguably, one of the most significant and acclaimed pieces of solo theatre of the last 25 years, Shylock is an award-winning play which explores the world of Shakespeare’s most controversial character, and his people. It examines religious and racial intolerance, the history of plays in performance and celebrates the richness of Shakespeare’s language.
Gareth first performed Shylock at the 1997 Edinburgh Fringe, receiving rave reviews in the national press and 5 Stars from the Festival critics. Over the following 10 years Shylock won awards touring all over the world and the production achieved almost legendary status.
Now, after a fifteen-year gap, Gareth is touring a re-imagined production of Shylock.
