This means online donations will be doubled by our Charity Champion and pledges we have already secured. The campaign raised over £118 million since it started. The challenge starts at midday on Monday 1st December and we need help to reach our target of £5600.
The arts industry has suffered great financial losses since March, but as well as that, the cancellation of events means that there are less opportunities to bring people together to experience the social interaction that comes with attending live performances.
We have been busy looking for ways to continue to support artists, promoters and audiences, despite the current lockdown restrictions. Looking forwards, we will support local community spaces to re-introduce live performances to audiences in a safe and carefully managed environment.
The format of the performances will be new, different and Covid-safe. Numbers will be restricted, according to the size and layout of each venue, so that appropriate physical distancing can be maintained at all times. Performances will be shorter and more relaxed to allow audiences to move safely around the space and access facilities. We will offer digital content and encourage the same sense of event and community that you would achieve in a live space by offering Q&A sessions with the artists and post show discussions.
We will provide levels of support for touring artists who have been hard hit by the closure of venues both locally and nationally. We will enable them to play to paying audiences and give a platform to their work, which would not normally be available to rural audiences in local spaces. Of course, we also want to blaze a trail for presenting work in the rural touring landscape. Amongst this sector, we aim to raise the bar for programming top quality work in rural spaces.
Donations can only be doubled if they are made through the Big Give online platform. If you would like to receive an email reminder so you can be ready as soon as the matching funds are released, please get in touch – either by signing up to Carn to Cove’s email mailing list at www.carntocove.org.uk , email direct to [email protected] or leave a message on 01209 312500.
